CanSkate Program
Canskate is Skate Canada's #1 learn-to-skate program, designed for beginners of all ages. The focus is on fun, participation and basic skill development. CanSkate teaches the basic fundamental movements: Go Forwards, Go Backwards, Stop, Turn, Spin, Jump, and Crossovers. You will earn badges and other incentives as you learn fundamental skating skills. The Skate Canada CanSkate program provides Nation-wide standardized report cards, badges, stickers, progress charts, and talent identification.

Lessons are given in a group format and led by an NCCP certified professional coach. Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make session active using teaching aids, music, and a wide variety of activities that create fun environment and promote learning. CanSkate is the feeder program to all other Skate Canada Programs, and is presented by BMO Financial Group, reflecting their commitment to grassroots development.
If a skater is older than 9, but still wishes to advance to private or semi-private lessons, the skater's family should contact the JumpStart Academy Director or the CanSkate Program Administrator at Vancouver Skating Club to make arrangements with the club coach for private or semi-private lessons.
