Vancouver Skating Club – Policies
Payment & Fees
Payment Schedule: Please refer to the schedule on the registration forms. Payment accepted by cheque or cash. No skater may skate until the registration form and payment, including the volunteer form and post dated cheque, are received by the Registrar. All Skate Canada fees must be paid at the beginning of the skating season. All late registration questions should be directed to the Registrar.
Please refer to the Policy sheet Included in the registration package. Requests to change sessions because of changes in school/work schedule or skating qualification level, MUST BE MADE IN WRITING to the Registrar. An administration fee of $10.00 will apply. Buy-on fees may be paid for the session you wish to skate on if the change is only temporary. However you must follow the buy-on procedures or discuss the situation with the Registrar and the Skating Director. Skaters are not permitted to sell or trade sessions. Additions may be made in writing to the Registrar. Payment of session will be according to the pro-rated schedule.
Volunteer Form and Fee: Each family must return a completed Volunteer form and post dated cheque (see registration brochure) with their registration package in order for the skaters registration to be processed. Each family may choose to earn back their $100.00 (equal to the post dated cheque) by volunteering at the Club. The volunteer hours must be contributed during the Fall, Winter or Spring session. The Volunteer Co-ordinator will contact each family by the beginning of each session to confirm your families volunteer contribution.
Late Fee: All registrations received after the registration dates outlined on the registration forms will be subject to a $25.00 late fee. This late fee is to cover the additional costs and expenses incurred in processing and dealing with late registrations.
Refunds: The VSC does not offer refunds. Ice credits my be granted in the case of medical circumstances. The skater must have missed a minimum of 14 consecutive days to qualify. A Doctor’s certificate must accompany your written request for an ice credit. The Board of Directors will consider medical credits on a case by case basis. If granted, the ice credit will be pro rated from the date of medical documentation.
Insufficient Funds: The VSC policy regarding returned cheques states that any person having issued two or more returned cheques to the VSC must make all subsequent payments to the Club by either cash, certified cheque, money order or bank draft.
Outstanding Fees: All skaters registering for any program with the Club must pay the fees associated with the program and all outstanding monies due to the Club prior to the program start date. The skater will not be allowed on the session if any fees or monies are outstanding.
Buy on Rules & Rates
Session Buy on Rules & Rates: From time to time, skaters may choose to skate on a session for which they are not registered. To buy on a session, the skater should contact the Club Administrator and the Skating Director to see if a session is full or if there is space available before paying the Buy on fee. If a session is listed as full, the skater must wait 15 minutes before they may take the spot of an absent skater. The full Buy on rate applies. The Buy on fee must be paid to the Skating Director, a Board member or the volunteer Music Player before skating. Buy on rates are posted at the rink.

Adult Skaters
Adult Skaters: All adult skaters who use Vancouver Skating Club ice should be aware of the policies that are imposed on the VSC by the North Vancouver Recreation Commission and the Pacific National Exhibition. Note: All adult skaters must comply with the skater qualifications and have paid their Skate Canada fees. Definition of adult user – over 24 years of age.
These policies are as follows:
Agrodome (PNE): No adult-only ice usage except in a group lesson. Adults may skate on designated sessions with youth users
North Vancouver Recreation Commission (Karen Magnussen recCentre, Ice Sports North Shore): 10% maximum on prime-time ice. (1 adult will be allowed on ONLY after 9 youth users have been registered.). Youth users have priority when registering for a session. Adults registering for Non-prime sessions will be at the discretion of the Registrar. Non-prime Sessions: Early morning (M-F), before 6 pm (M-F), Saturday morning (before 8:00 am).
Prime Sessions: After 6:00 pm (M-F), Saturday (after 8:00 am), all day Sunday.
Parents!
All children should be supervised by parents, friends or other family members. The VSC does not provide baby sitting services nor does the management of the facilities where VSC activities take place.
